ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s
Madelyn McFadden and Tarleton State’s
Sofia DeGroot have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Dec. 7.
McFadden, a freshman, finished second out of 12 competitors in the 600-meter race with a time of 1:35.12 at Texas A&M’s McFerrin 12-Degree Invitational. McFadden also helped Abilene Christian to a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay where the Wildcats clocked in at 3:50.94, currently the 40
th best time in the country.
DeGroot, a junior, placed third in the long jump at Oklahoma’s Winter Field Fest, collecting a personal-best mark of 6.04 meters and becoming the fourth Texan in program history to have a personal-best of at least six meters. DeGroot’s mark is currently ranked 14
th in the nation.
