WAC PLAY JUST AROUND THE CORNER
Week seven of the 2025-26 WAC women’s basketball season will mark the final week of non-conference play as the league prepares for its final matches before WAC play which begins on Dec. 29. Abilene Christian and Tarleton State will play in the ACU Christmas Classic on Dec. 19-20 where the teams will each play Montana and Buffalo. Dec. 21 is highlighted by a pair of ranked matchups which include UT Arlington at No. 5 LSU and California Baptist at No. 23 Nebraska.
ACU’S PAYTON HULL NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Payton Hull was tabbed this week’s WAC Player of the Week after playing an entire 40 minutes against a Texas Tech team that is ranked 25th in the NCAA NET rankings and recording her fourth 20-point game of the season with 23 points against the Lady Raiders. Hull notched her 30th consecutive game with at least 10 points as she also made a career-high nine free throws and tied a career-high nine rebounds. Hull currently leads the WAC in scoring with 17.9 points per game, the 54th best scoring average in the nation.
UTAH VALLEY TOPS KANSAS CITY WITH HEADRICK DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Utah Valley defeated Kansas City 64-58 last Saturday following a double-double performance from the WAC’s Newcomer of the Week,
Kaylee Headrick. Headrick tied a career-high 18 points and set a career-high 11 rebounds as the senior shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the field.
Amanda Barcello knocked down five 3-pointers in the match to finish with 17 points and
Tessa Chaney scored 13 points and added five rebounds. Headrick, Barcello and Chaney made up three-fourths of the Wolverines’ total points in the game.
WAC IN THE INDIVIDUAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
California Baptist’s
Emma Johansson and UT Arlington’s
Kira Reynolds have cemented themselves as two of the best blockers not only in the WAC, but in the nation. Johansson is ranked third in total blocks (33) and fifth in blocks per game (3.00) while Reynolds is sixth in total blocks (31) and fourth in blocks per game (3.10). Abilene Christian’s
Meredith Mayes holds the fourth-best field goal percentage in the nation, as the junior center has made 69 percent of her total attempts this season (58-of-84). Utah Valley’s
Amanda Barcello remains one of the hottest sharp shooters from beyond the arc, ranking 10th in the country in 3-pointers per game (3.29).
