ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Jackson Holcombe and Tarleton State’s Cam McDowell have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 7.

Holcombe, a redshirt sophomore guard, averaged 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game across two starts for Utah Valley last week, shooting 63.2 percent from the floor. Holcombe poured in 17 points and added 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals at San Diego State on Dec. 3 before leading the Wolverines with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in an 82-71 win at Bowling Green on Dec. 6.

McDowell, a senior transfer guard, averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game in two Tarleton State wins. McDowell scored 20 points and added eight rebounds, three assists and three steals against Howard Payne on Dec. 3 before tallying 26 points, four boards and three steals against Cameron on Dec. 7.
