ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Dominique Daniels and Southern Utah’s Tanner Hayhurst have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, March 1.

Daniels, a graduate guard, averaged 25.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in two home victories last week. Daniels scored a game-high 28 points on 11-of-22 (.500) shooting from the field, adding three rebounds and four assists in a 68-56 win over UT Arlington on Feb. 26. Daniels closed the weekend with 23 points, four assists and two steals to guide the Lancers past Tarleton State 82-67 on Feb. 28.

Hayhurst, a junior transfer guard, scored a career-high 25 points to lead Southern Utah to an 81-67 victory over rival Utah Tech on Feb. 28. Hayhurst connected on 8-of-11 (.727) field goal attempts, including 5-of-8 shots from beyond the arc, to go along with four rebounds and three steals for the Thunderbirds in the home triumph over Utah Tech.
