Mason Hill have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the meet week ending on Sunday, May 4.
Graduate student Daviciea McCartney capped the regular season with standout performances at the Desert Heat Classic. McCartney broke his school record in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking an impressive time of 49.89—a mark that currently ranks No. 1 in the WAC and 10th nationally. McCartney also excelled in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.85 seconds, ranking fourth in the WAC this season.
On the field, sophomore Mason Hill concluded the regular season with a victory at the SMU Invitational, capturing his second shot put individual title of the season. Hill established a new personal best with a throw of 16.75 meters, marking two throws over 16 meters at the meet. His top mark ranks fourth in Tarleton State’s program history and currently sits fourth in the WAC. This achievement follows his first collegiate win earlier this season at the Clyde Hart Invitational. Hill is also ranked 15th in the WAC in the hammer throw, following a 42.05-meter performance at the Bill Schmidt Invite in April.
