ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s
Dorcas Jepkosgei and Tarleton State’s
Prestina Ochonogor have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 15.
Jepkosgei, a freshman, collected her second consecutive WAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week award after claiming third place in the mile run at the Jarvis Scott Invitational hosted by Texas Tech with a time of 4:53.31. The altitude converted mile time of 4:49.90 ranks Jepkosgei second in the WAC this season.
Ochonogor, a sophomore, broke her own WAC indoor long jump all-time record at Arkansas’ Tyson Invitational last weekend with a meet-winning jump of 6.69 meters on her first attempt in the event. Ochonogor’s jump is not only is the best mark in the conference by over half a meter, but currently ranks the second best mark in the NCAA, just 0.16 meters behind the nation leader.
