ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s
Mia McNulty and California Baptist’s
Miranda De Nava have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 8.
McNulty, a junior catcher/right fielder, collected 11 hits in 19 at-bats for a batting average of .579 on the week and posted the WAC’s highest OPS of 1.935 after hitting four home runs and two doubles. McNulty totaled 12 RBIs and nine runs scored on the week and currently leads the league in both statistics. McNulty recorded four multi-hit games including two 3-for-4 games in the double-header versus UTEP.
De Nava, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, pitched 14.0 innings across four appearances, posting one win and one save. De Nava struck out 19 total batters last week, the most in the WAC, including a league-high eight batters in California Baptist’s season-opening 8-0 win against UNLV. De Nava also pitched 2.2 innings in relief in the second matchup against the Rebels, picking up six strikeouts without allowing a baserunner.
