2026 WAC SB Release - Week 7
CONFERENCE PLAY AROUND THE CORNER
The 2026 WAC Softball conference season starts tomorrow, March 20 as the league’s seven teams will begin to fight for six spots in the conference tournament which will take place on May 6-9 in Stephenville, Texas. The opening conference weekend series consists of California Baptist at Southern Utah, UT Arlington at Abilene Christian and Utah Tech at Utah Valley. Tarleton State will begin its conference season next weekend when it travels to UT Arlington.
UTAH VALLEY HOLDING THE HOT HAND HEADING INTO WAC PLAY
Utah Valley is rolling into WAC play on a four-game winning streak and as winners of 12 of its last 15 games. The Wolverines opened it’s 2026 home season with a 9-1 victory over Weber State on Tuesday. In the game,
Britney Moreno became the sixth player in program history to reach 100 career runs scored. UVU leads the league in team batting average as the Wolverines are hitting .360 as team through 25 games, the 14th best team BA in the nation.
UT ARLINGTON WINNERS OF THREE STRAIGHT
UT Arlington wrapped up the first half of the season on a three-game winning streak, taking two games from South Dakota State and one from Columbia.
Marley Neises racked up five RBIs and two runs scored in the last three games.
Madi McDonnell tossed a complete game against Columbia, allowing just two earned runs in seven innings.
ABILENE CHRISTIAN TAKES THE SERIES FINALE AGAINST (RV) UTAH
Abilene Christian won its first game against a Power 4 opponent since April 2022, with a 9-4 victory over (RV) Utah on Thursday. The first four of the Wildcat lineup provided majority of the offense as
Ciana Arguijo, Ari Maxwell, Elizabeth Schaefer and
Emalee Romero combined for eight hits, six RBIs and six runs scored in the game.
Leah Meyer posted four strong innings of relief in the pitching circle, shutting out the Utes offense with six strikeouts while allowing just one hit.
WAC IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Tarleton State’s hot bats put the Texans 15th in the nation in total hits (269) while Utah Valley ranks 19th in doubles per game (1.92). The CBU pitching staff has been dominant in the pitching circle as the Lancers rank 19th in shutouts (6). CBU’s
Matti Severns broke the CBU DI era record for most stolen bases in a single season as her 21 stolen bags rank fourth in the nation. SUU’s
Isabella Knight has reached base 14 times on a hit by pitch, putting her second in the country in that statistic.
