ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s
Alvaro Pastor has been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Golfer of the Week for the competition week ending on Wednesday, Apr. 8.
Pastor, a redshirt freshman, collected his third WAC Men’s Golfer of the Week honor this season after finishing runner-up at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Missouri, with a final score of 4-under-par 206 (66-70-70), his third tournament of the season with a top two placement. Pastor’s 206 54-hole score marked his second-lowest mark this season. Pastor totaled 11 birdies in the tournament, with five coming in the first round, en route to his fifth top ten finish of the season. Pastor finished ahead of three golfers ranked inside Scoreboard’s Top 150 Rankings and outplayed competitors from Power 4 conferences including Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas and Nebraska. Pastor led the Texans to a sixth-place team finish out of 19 teams.
