2026 WAC OTF Championships Results
ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley kept its hold over the leaderboard at the conclusion of competition on Friday evening on the second day of the 2026 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Maverick Stadium. The Wolverines have scored 99 points after eight women’s events and 54 points following six men’s events to hold its lead in both sets of standings.
UT Arlington is in second place in the women’s standings with 77 points, followed by Tarleton State with 46. UTA rose to second in the men’s standings with 39 points and Southern Utah is third with 38.
UVU freshman
Caren Kipsirat brought home the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase title with a winning time of 10:16.14.
Averie Perriton from Utah Tech was runner-up with a time of 10:31.87, followed by Utah Valley’s
Katelynn Emmons in third place with an 10:52.53 effort.
The Wolverines
Grace Degarimore claimed first place points in the women’s shot put thanks to a throw of 14.59m (47-10.50). Abilene Christian’s
Ciara Tilley was the runner-up with a 13.98m (45-10.50) in the final round, followed by TSU’s
Tayler Wessley in third place with a 13.82m (45-04.25) showing.
UT Arlington’s
Eliza Lemberga defended her title as the winner of the women’s heptathlon, scoring 5,558 points to take the event title. ACU’s
Natalie Poe placed second after scoring 5,177 points, while UTA’s
Carla Guerrero scored 4,711 points to take third place.
Prestina Ochonogor from Tarleton State repeated as WAC champion in the long jump hitting a mark of 6.07m (19-11.00). UTA freshman
Arieanna McPeak placed second going 5.88m (19-03.50) and TSU’s
Sofia DeGroot completed the top of the podium in third place with final round 5.73m (18-09.75).
Tarleton State went 1-2-3 in the men's long jump as senior
Jalen Cadet secured the championship with a 7.56m (24-09.75) effort. Teammate
Sir Jonathan Sims was the long jump runner-up with a 7.47m (24-06.25) showing with fellow Texans jumper
Johnathon Rodgers finishing third with a 7.09m (23-03.25).
ACU’s
Canaan Fairley repeated as champion in the men’s decathlon, winning the competition by five points at 7,280. Utah Valley's
Cole Johnson was the runner-up with 6,311 points, as Southern Utah’s
Jared Sharp finished third with 6,074 points.
TSU’s
Mason Hill took home the gold medal in the men's shot put with a top throw of 16.47m (54-00.5). UT Arlington's
Hayden Wilson was the runner-up with a 16.37m (53-08.05) top mark and Utah Valley’s
Eddie Garcia finished third with a 16.07m (52-08.75) attempt.
In the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase
Ernesto Ruiz of California Baptist is the WAC champion with his time of 8:55.40. Utah Valley's
Cameron Jacobs was second with an 8:57.17 and CBU's
Nicolai Martino joined teammate Ruiz on the medal stand with a 9:02.32.
In the women's prelims, Tarleton State's malak Rashwan had the best time in the 100m hurdles at 13.49. Emilia Mandl of UTA had a 2:11.39 in the 800m for the best time on the night. Texans freshman Emma Holmes led the way in the 400m with a 53.34. TSU's Lauren Roy and Prestina Ochonogor had the fastest times in the 100m prelims at 11.20.
For the men, Tarleton State's Catterin Cox ran a 13.66 in the 110m hurdles and is the top qualifier. Jayden Fitzgarrald of UVU had a season-best 1:50.94 to lead the 800m runners. UT Arlington freshman Jayden Haynes ran a 46.76 in the 400m which was best on the night. Utah Valley's Gavin Stafford ran the 26th best time in the NCAA with a 10.15 in the 100m to lead the prelims.
The finals for the 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 800m, 400m and 100m will be on Saturday, May 16.
Day three of the WAC Outdoor Track & Field championships starts on Saturday, May 16 at 11 am CT with the women's discus.
