Miranda De Nava have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Co-Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, May 3.
Pappas, a posted a .615 batting average with multiple hits in all three games of the series win over Abilene Christian to help Utah Tech clinch the final spot of the 2026 University Credit Union WAC Softball Tournament. In Friday double-header versus the Wildcats, Pappas went 6-for-9 with a home run and three doubles as she drove in six RBIs and scored three runs. Pappas closed the series with a 2-for-4 game where she notched an RBI triple and scored two runs. Pappas closed the 2026 regular season with a .450 batting average, ranking best in the WAC and 27
th in the nation.
Moreno, a senior utility player, rewrote UVU history last week and reached a major individual milestone. Moreno posted the Wolverines’ first-ever cycle against a DI opponent in the first game against Southern Utah last week, as she went 4-for-5 with a home run, triple, double, and single. Moreno also broke UVU’s single-season triples record as she now stands with eight triples on the year. In game two against the Thunderbirds, Moreno recorded her 200
th career hit with a home run to lead off the game. Moreno concluded the week with a .588 batting average, two home runs, two triples, a double, eight runs scored and five RBIs.
De Nava, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, collected her fifth WAC Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after pitching 15.0 innings against Tarleton State to help California Baptist capture the WAC regular season title. De Nava helped the Lancers clinch a share of the regular season title by throwing a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts in game one versus the Texans. De Nava then tossed 4.2 shutout innings of relief in game two, keeping the Lancers just one run behind the Texans. The Lancer ace pitched 3.1 innings in the pivotal game three against Tarleton State and surrendered three solo home runs, her first earned runs allowed in a conference game since April 11 against UTA. De Nava’s 1.40 ERA last week brought her WAC-best season ERA down to 2.24, ranking 41
st best in the country.
