2026 WAC SB Release - Week 13
ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER SET OF SWEEPS
For the second straight weekend, all three WAC softball series ended in three-game sweeps. California Baptist, Tarleton State and UT Arlington are aiming to finish the regular season strong as each team has won at least their last four conference games with the Texans and Mavericks coming off back-to-back sweeps.
THE SERIES FOR THE REGULAR SEASON TITLE
The WAC heads into the final weekend of the regular season with the top two teams in the standings, California Baptist (13-2) and Tarleton State (12-3), going head-to-head for one final series with the 2026 WAC regular season title on the line. The Lancers can clinch a share of the title with one win and can secure the outright title with two wins. The Texans need two wins to clinch a share while a sweep will reward Tarleton State the outright title.
THE PLAYOFFS BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS
One final spot remains open for the 2026 University Credit Union WAC Softball Tournament, and it’ll belong to the winner of the Abilene Christian and Utah Tech series. With both teams tied at 3-12 in the standings, the team that wins two games in the series will claim the final ticket to the postseason.
LANCERS RUN IT UP IN ABILENE
California Baptist returned from its WAC bye week and dropped a total of 33 runs in its series versus Abilene Christian last weekend. CBU’s
Victoria Macias was tabbed WAC Player of the Week after batting .600 in the series with three home runs and seven RBIs.
Miranda De Nava tossed two complete-game shutouts, allowing just seven hits and totaling six strikeouts in 12 innings of work.
MCNULTY WALKS IT OFF ON UTA SENIOR DAY
Mia McNulty concluded UT Arlington’s regular season, and the sweep over Southern Utah, with a senior-day walk-off two-run home run down the left field line as the Mavericks were down one run and down to their final out. McNulty’s homer marked UTA’s 59th home run of the season, a new single-season home run record for the Mavs, surpassing the previous mark of 56 set back in 2008.
SCHULTZ CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THE CIRCLE
Tarleton State’s
Shelby Schultz earned her third WAC Pitcher of the Week honor in the last four weeks following another two-win weekend with another sub-1 era of 0.57. Schultz opened the series against Utah Tech with her fifth consecutive complete game where she allowed just one earned run off three hits and struck out nine. She finalized the Texans’ sweep over the Trailblazers with 4.1 shutout innings for her league-leading 16th win on the year.
