ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Victoria Macias and Tarleton State’s Shelby Schultz have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Apr. 26.
 
Macias, a junior infielder, collected two hits in each of the three games in California Baptist’s series sweep over Abilene Christian, posting a .600 batting average on the weekend. Four of Macias’ six hits were for extra bases, with three of them leaving the park for home runs. Macias hit two homers in back-to-back plate appearances in the series finale versus ACU as she totaled seven RBIs throughout the weekend.
 
Schultz, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, picked up her third WAC Pitcher of the Week honor in the last four weeks following another two-win weekend with another sub-1 era of 0.57. Schultz opened the series against Utah Tech with her fifth consecutive complete game where she allowed just one earned run off three hits and struck out nine. Schutlz then tallied her third save of the season in game two against the Trailblazers, closing out the game with three straight strikeouts. She finalized the Texans’ sweep over Utah Tech with 4.1 shutout innings for her league-leading 16^th win on the year.
