ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s James Morris and Jaden Manetta and Grand Canyon’s Leon Schmidt have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 4.
 
Morris, a senior forward, led the WAC with seven points during a 2-0 Seattle U week that featured three goals and an assist. In a 2-0 clean sheet at Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 31, Morris provided the assist on the winning goal in the 58th minute and converted on a penalty of his own in the 70th minute to guide the Redhawk offense. Morris bagged a brace in a 3-2 comeback win at UC Davis on Sept. 3, scoring the first goal of the match in the 20th minute and the winning goal in the 87th minute to provide the final scoreline.
 
Manetta, a junior defender, went the distance in a pair of Seattle U wins on the road during the California swing. The Redhawks allowed a total of five shots on goal over the course of two matches, ranking second in the conference for the week with 1.00 goals allowed per game. Seattle U limited Cal State Fullerton to a single shot on goal in a 2-0 shutout on Aug. 31 and held UC Davis to four attempts on frame in a 3-2 victory on Sept. 3.
 
Schmidt, a junior goalkeeper, continued his steady form in goal for GCU during a 1-1 road trip through Nebraska. Schmidt led all WAC goalkeepers with 14 total saves and an .824 save percentage during the week, ranking third with a 1.50 goals against average. Schmidt was credited with eight saves in a 2-1 win at Creighton on Sept. 4 and contributed six stops in a hard luck 2-1 defeat at Omaha on Sept. 4.
