ARLINGTON, Texas – San Jose State’s Angel Iniguez, Seattle U’s Eiji Hata and California Baptist’s Hugo Do Rego have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 30.

Iniguez, a junior midfielder, contributed to both San Jose State goals in a 2-2 draw with UC Davis on Sept. 27. Iniguez scored his first goal of the season at 56:31 to tie the match with UC Davis 1-1 before serving the primary assist to Christian Powell at 68:13 for a go-ahead tally and 2-1 Spartan advantage.

Hata, a junior transfer defender, picked up a pair of assists for Seattle U as the Redhawks won a wild 4-3 decision over CSUN on Sept. 27. Hata provided the primary assist on goals by Edgar Leon at 43:29 and Jeremy Opong at 48:43 to erase a two-goal deficit, part of an unanswered four-goal surge for Seattle U. The Redhawk defense also held CSUN to three shots on goal during the second half rally.

Do Rego, a sophomore goalkeeper, earned his conference-high third shutout of the season during a scoreless draw for CBU against UC Riverside on Sept. 25. Do Rego was credited with four saves in the match, including three in the second half, to extend his league-best save percentage to .831 in 2024.
