ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s Taketo Onodera, San Jose State’s Niklas Dossmann and Utah Tech’s Stockton Short have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Oct. 13.

Onodera, a graduate midfielder, contributed one goal and one assist for Seattle U as a standout offensive performer in a 1-0-1 week. In a 1-1 draw at home against UNLV on Oct. 10, Onodera served the primary assist on the lone Redhawk goal in the 29th minute and attempted a match-high six shots. In a 1-0 shutout victory on Oct. 13, Onodera connected from the penalty spot just 2:36 into the match to put Seattle U out front for the remainder of the contest.

Dossmann, a junior defender, keyed a fantastic San Jose State defensive effort over 180 full minutes of a pair of scoreless draws to keep the Spartans unbeaten in WAC play. San Jose State limited Utah Tech to just eight total shots that included two on goal (including only one in the second half) on Oct. 10. Against UNLV on Oct. 13, the Spartans held the opposition to just three total shots and none on frame to earn the decision.

Short, a junior goalkeeper, was terrific for Utah Tech in a 0-1-1 week in which he led the conference with 16 saves and ranked second in goals against average (0.50) and save percentage (.941). Short was credited with five saves, including four stops in the second half, of a 0-0 draw at San Jose State on Oct. 10. At Seattle U on Oct. 13, Short set a Division I era Utah Tech program record with 11 saves (nine in the second half alone) after allowing a penalty kick goal in the third minute of a 1-0 defeat against the first place Redhawks.
