2024 NCAA DI Baseball Championship Digital Bracket
ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon officially received the WAC’s automatic conference bid into the 2024 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship on Monday.
The No. 4 seeded Lopes (34-23) were one of four teams named to the NCAA Tucson Regional, also featuring No. 13 national seed and host Arizona, No. 2 seed West Virginia and No. 3 seed Dallas Baptist.
Due to NCAA transitioning institution regulations, 2024 University Credit Union WAC Baseball Tournament champion Tarleton State was prohibited from accepting the automatic berth to the NCAA Championship as it completed the final season of its transition from Division II to Division I. Per WAC conference code, the top eligible finisher from the final regular season standings is the designated alternate in the case that a tournament champion is unable to accept an NCAA tournament bid. Grand Canyon was the top seed in the 2024 WAC tournament after finishing atop the league standings with a 23-7 record in conference play.
Since 1963 WAC programs have won a combined 195 games in the NCAA Baseball Championship. Arizona (1963, 1966, 1970, 1976 National Champion), Arizona State (1964, 1965 National Champion, 1967 National Champion, 1969 National Champion, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977 National Champion, 1978), Brigham Young (1968, 1971), Hawai’I (1980), Rice (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 National Champion) and Fresno State (2008 National Champion) have previously represented the WAC at the College World Series.
