MESA, Ariz. – California Baptist won the first game of day two in the University Credit Union WAC Baseball Tournament in dramatic fashion while Tarleton State had a masterful 1-hit shutout pitching performance in game two at Hohokam Stadium. Utah Tech advanced in a come-from-behind-win over Abilene Christian in game three of the day.

Matt Chavez blasted a 3-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 14th inning to send the Lancers to the semifinal round Friday. Chavez was 0-7 on the day before the fateful blast. "Cody New comes up to me before that at bat and he says, forget those seven, this at bat is going to be the biggest one - and it was," said Chavez after the game. Chris Ramirez was 5-7 at the plate for the Lancers with four runs scored as they advance to play the winner of game five on Friday at 11 am MST.

The Texans pitched a 1-hit shutout, led by
Cort Lowry who went 7.0 innings, facing the minimum 21 batters. "I knew I had to give our team a chance to get deep in the tournament. We needed to save arms, I just wanted to put it over the plate and let our defense work and it worked out," said Lowry. TSU's
Cage McCloud was 2-3 with 2 RBI and
Jake Tatom hit a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning to lead the offense. Tarleton State will face California Baptist at 11 am MST on Friday while Sacramento State will play an elimination game at 3 pm MST.

A big 6th inning and a strong pitching performance from
Easton Brooks helped Utah Tech stay alive in the night cap with a come-from-behind win over ACU.
Hudson Manwaring was 3-5 with an RBI,
Kyle McDaniel went 2-5 with 2 RBI while
Kace Naone and
Petey Soto Jr both had solo home runs. Brooks pitched 2.2 innings, striking out five batters and picking up the save for Trailblazers, who advance to the semifinal round to take on Sacramento State at 3 pm MST.
