ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Tyler Wilson and UT Arlington’s Zach Norris have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, May 5.
 
Wilson, a senior utility player, earned a second WAC weekly award of the season during a 4-0 run for GCU. Wilson batted .467 with five extra-base hits, eight RBIs, a 1.133 slugging percentage and six runs scored against #21 Arizona and California Baptist. Wilson finished a single shy of the cycle, driving in two runs and scoring four times for the Lopes in a 24-8 win in seven innings at Arizona on April 30. Wilson logged five RBIs, including a sixth-inning grand slam, in a 14-2 win in seven in game two of a sweep of CBU on May 4.
 
Norris, a redshirt senior right-handed pitcher, claimed conference pitcher of the week for the second time in 2024 after tossing a gem for UT Arlington during a game two win against Sacramento State on May 3. Norris threw seven shutout innings, allowing four hits, one walk and two hit by pitches, and stuck out seven batters on 99 pitches in a 5-0 victory for the Mavericks.
