WAC WSOC25 Release Week 10

UTAH TECH FORCES DRAW WITH UTAH VALLEY
After the first half of conference matches, Utah Tech was the only team to keep up with Utah Valley in 90 minutes as the Trailblazers forced a 3-3 draw with the Wolverines last Thursday. Each team took turns trading blows throughout the match but Kyah Le scored the final equalizer for Utah Tech in the 73rd minute to secure the conference point that no other WAC team has been able to notch so far this season against Utah Valley. Jocelyn Wright and Teagan Jaussi put the first two scores on the board for the Trailblazers.

CALIFORNIA BAPTIST SHUTS OUT COMPETITION, SWEEPS WAC WEEKLY HONORS
California Baptist collected two shutout road victories last week against Southern Utah 1-0 and Utah Tech 2-0 and swept this week’s WAC weekly honors. Anja Jestrovic was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week after contributing to all three Lancer goals; assisting the game-winner versus the Thunderbirds and recording the brace against the Trailblazers. Summer Allen and Mikayla O’Brien were awarded the WAC Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, as Allen and the Lancer defense limited the opposition to just a total of four shots on goal in 180 minutes while O’Brien collected her second and third shutout of the conference season.

UTAH VALLEY REMAINS UNBEATEN IN WAC PLAY
Utah Valley rebounded from the draw with Utah Tech with a 3-0 shutout road win at Southern Utah to remain the only unbeaten team in WAC play. Ruby Hladek scored the game-winning goal in the third minute of the match with Josie Shepherd and Marie Quentel finding the back of the net later in the second half. The Wolverines hold a one-point lead over the Lancers in the WAC standings and will have a chance to grow that lead as they take on CBU for one final time in the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 18.

THREE WAC PLAYERS NAMED TO TOP DRAWER SOCCER’S MIDSEASON TOP 100
Utah Valley’s Ruby Hladek and Faith Webber were named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Women’s National Top 100 midseason rankings while Utah Tech’s Abby Olsen was ranked 79th in the Women’s Freshman Top 100. Utah Valley was one of 13 programs with multiple honorees as Hladek ranked 41st and Webber checked in at 61st.
