WAC VB25 Release Week 10

UTAH VALLEY DETHRONES UTAH TECH
For the first time in program history, Utah Valley stands alone at the top of the WAC Volleyball standings with a 6-1 conference record. The Wolverines claimed the top spot after defeating the previous first-place team, Utah Tech, with a 3-0 sweep. This week’s WAC Player of the Week, Avery Page, finished with 15 kills, tying a career high and setting a new season high with seven total blocks. Evalyn Chism collected 23 assists to move to fourth all-time in UVU career assists. The Wolverines head into week 10 of the volleyball season with a four-match winning streak.

TARLETON STATE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT MATCH
Tarleton State defeated California Baptist 3-1 last week to improve its conference record to 5-2, growing its lead of third place in the WAC standings to two matches over fourth place. This win marked the Texans’ third consecutive victory and fourth in the last five matches. LaNeah Lara and Madison Rice-Locket led Tarleton State with 15 kills each while Madison Frank recorded a .533 hitting percentage with 11 kills. Megan Hodges notched her seventh double-double of the season with 32 assists and 11 digs.

UT ARLINGTON TURNING THE TIDE
After beginning WAC play with a 1-4 record, UT Arlington is flipping the script by winning the last two matches including last week’s match against CBU 3-1. The Mavericks had six players record at least six kills in the match led by Jalie Tritt who tallied 18 kills against the Lancers. Tritt has notched at least seven kills in all 19 matches this season and has had eight matches with at least 15 kills. Mira Ledermueller collected her fourth WAC Setter of the Week award this season after totaling 49 assists in the match, the most assists by a WAC player in a four-set match this season and the third-most overall in all matches.

CAREER WEEK FOR ASIATA
Utah Tech’s Nana Asiata posted 38 kills across two matches for the Trailblazers last week, including a career-high 19 kills in the 3-1 victory over Abilene Christian where she notched a .364 hitting percentage. Asiata then matched that career-high the very next match against Utah Valley with another 19-kill performance, tying for the most kills in a three-set match in the WAC this season.
