ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) unveiled on Friday its 2025 men’s soccer major award winners and all-conference teams as voted on by the league’s head coaches. Grand Canyon’s Junior Diouf was named WAC Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. California Baptist’s Stavros Charalampous earned WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Utah Tech’s Luca Campoli was voted the WAC Goalkeeper of the Year and Utah Tech head coach Jonny Broadhead rounded out the major award winners as the WAC Coach of the Year.
Diouf, a freshman forward, led the WAC in scoring with 14 goals and 32 points over 15 matches in the regular season. In seven conference contests for the Lopes, Diouf was tied for the WAC lead with six goals and ranked second across league matches with 13 points. Diouf’s 60 overall shot attempts and four multi-goal matches also were the best in the conference. Diouf connected on five match-winning goals during the regular season, providing the deciding goals against Utah Valley (Oct. 4), San Diego State (Oct. 9) and UNLV (Nov. 1). Diouf became the first freshman to win the WAC’s top offensive player award since it was introduced in 2013.
Charalampous, a junior midfielder, was a stalwart for the CBU back line on the team’s way to a first-place finish in the WAC standings and a tournament top seed on its home field. The Lancers were tied for second in the conference with 17 goals allowed during the regular season, including eight in conference play, to post a 1.13 goals against average. Charalampous started the first 15 games of the season for CBU, playing the full 90 minutes on seven occasions, while helping preside over four team clean sheets. Offensively Charalampous contributed four goals, including a match winner to open the season against American (Aug. 21).
Campoli, a freshman goalkeeper, posted a 3-4-4 record across all competitions but excelled in conference play, going 3-1-3 and helping Utah Tech secure the second seed in the WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament. Campoli led the conference with 27 saves and a .771 save percentage across seven WAC starts, registering the second best goals against average total of 1.14 in league matches. Campoli established career-high with eight saves in a 2-1 win over eventual regular-season champion California Baptist (Oct. 26).
Broadhead earned his first WAC coach of the year nod after guiding Utah Tech to 12 points (3-1-3) in conference play, finishing one point out of a share of the regular season WAC championship. The Trailblazers led the conference in scoring with 14 goals and 40 points over seven league matches, ranking second in the league with eight goals allowed versus WAC competitors.
