Utah Valley Sweeps The Team Trophies At The 2025 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

2025 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Results

ARLINGTON, Texas
– Utah Valley capped off a dominant team showing on Saturday to close the 2025 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Maverick Stadium, winning both the men’s and women’s team titles. The Wolverines scored 208 points after 21 scored women’s events and 221.5 points following 21 scored men’s events to sweep the team hardware.
 
Host UT Arlington was runner-up on the women’s side with 153 points, followed by Tarleton State in third place with 136.5 points. Grand Canyon climbed all the way to second place in the men’s standings with 170.5 points and UTA checked in third with 148 points.
 
The meet high point winners were Victoria Cameron from Tarleton State in women’s track and Gabe Remy from Utah Valley in men’s track, and Ajia Hughes from Southern Utah in women’s field and Hayden Wilson from UTA in men’s field.
 
UT Arlington’s Abigail Flores earned the first gold medal of championship Saturday in the women’s discus event, covering 50.07m (164-3.0) on her final throw to capture the event win. Utah Valley’s Grace Degarimore was second with a top attempt of 48.01m (157-6.0) and defending champion Morgan Blackburn from Southern Utah finished third at 46.25m (151-9.0).
 
Ajia Hughes from Southern Utah locked up the women’s high jump as the only athlete to clear 1.83m (6-0.0), doing so on her second attempt. Ja’Dasia Sims from ACU and McKinley Novacek from UTA joined Hughes on the medal stand after clearing 1.74m (5-8.50).

Sir Jonathan Sims completed the Tarleton State repeat in the men’s triple jump by besting teammate and defending champion Gabriele Tosti, jumping 15.54m (51-0.0) in the fourth round to log a championship winning mark. Tosti claimed runner-up accolades with a top mark of 15.37m (50-5.25), and Davi Torres capped the Tarleton State medal sweep in third place with a 14.42m (47-3.75).

Randon Gray secured the first men’s pole vault WAC title for UTA, clearing 5.09m (16-8.25) to stand atop the event podium. GCU’s Misael Colon and UTA’s Ethan Saenz cleared matching heights of 4.99m (16-4.50).

UTA’s Hayden Wilson picked up his second event win of the weekend in the men’s discus, doubling with a top throw of 52.60m (172-7). Utah Valley’s Trevor Hill earned second place by way of a throw of 51.49m (168-11), and GCU Harrison Cornell rounded out the event medalists with a third-place attempt of 50.22m (164-9).

GCU’s Jazmine Scott led the way in the women’s triple jump finals, jumping 12.70m (41-8.0) to pick up first place points for the Lopes. ACU’s Luize Velmere came in second with a 12.64m (41-5.75) effort and Tarleton State’s Sofia DeGroot finished third with a top mark of 12.54m (41-1.75).
 
Calen Jones from UTA defended his meet championship in the men’s high jump, clearing 2.11m (6-11) on his first attempt for the event victory. Tarleton State’s Davi Torres placed second with a 2.08m (6-9.75) clearance and GCU’s Praise Jibunor earned the bronze medal after clearing the bar at 2.05m (6-8.75).
 
GCU’s Matthew Kaitschuck stood atop the field in the men’s javelin, unleashing a throw of 60.88m (199-9) in the first round. Teammate Casey Tow was second in the standings with a 60.54m (198-7) effort, and Utah Valley’s Nick Forsyth picked up third place with a 59.99m (196-10) top effort.
 
In the first relay action of championship Saturday, Utah Valley emerged victorious in the men’s 4x100m. Gavin Stafford, Cameron Franklin, Kade Thompson and Gabe Remy combined for a gold medal time of 39.31. The GCU entry of Joseph Harding, Miguel Rosario, Jacob Holguin and Dylan Poteat was the runner-up in 40.02, and Tarleton State’s Nathan Franco, Aidan Matthews, Camden Hawkins and David Mvundura was third with a time of 40.03.

Tarleton State’s entry in the women’s 4x100m that featured Hanna Dudley, Lauren Roy, Amandine Estival and Victoria Cameron claimed victory with a time of 43.93. Utah Valley’s Quincy Bonds, Ella Hopper, Kali McEuen and Whitney Fisher were the runners-up in 45.30 and GCU’s Nina Thevenin, Aaliyah Rifort-Delem, Taliyah Booker and Atena Rayson clocked in third with a time of 45.50.

CBU’s Valentin Soca won the men’s 1500-meter run championship for the second time in his career, outpointing teammate Pedro Marin to the finish line in 3:46.36. Marin captured the silver with a time of 3:48.27 and UTA’s Alex Kalmar placed third in 3:48.36.

Winnie Kipsang completed a successful title defense representing UTA in the women’s 1500-meter run, pacing the field with a gold medal time of 4:24.28. Southern Utah’s Isabella Evans scored second place points with a time of 4:25.51 and Seattle U’s Lilianne Hargreaves was third in 4:27.13.
 
GCU’s Prosper Ekporere was the second straight Lope to win the men’s 110-meter hurdles, blazing down the track with a time of 13.66. Teammate Francisco Marques was the runner-up in 13.68 and Tarleton State’s Caterrin Cox placed third with a time of 13.77.
 
Quincy Bonds brought home the first Utah Valley women’s 100-meter hurdles gold medal at the WAC Championships thanks to a finals time of 13.28. Teammate Kali McEuen was on the trail in second place with a time of 13.48. UTA’s Zaire Moore rounded out the podium finishers in 13.52.
 
Utah Valley’s Cameron Franklin bested defending champion Jaedyn Carpenter from Southern Utah in the men’s 400-meter dash, racing to the finish line in 45.79 to Carpenter’s 45.85. GCU’s Joshua Gittens finished in third place with a time of 46.21.

Ella Hopper from Utah Valley established an outdoor PR in the women’s 400-meter dash on her way to an event win, clocking a time of 53.67. GCU’s Taliyah Booker was the runner-up with a time of 53.85 and Tarleton State’s Hanna Dudley finished third in 54.43.

Utah Valley’s Gabe Remy turned in a rocket fast time in the men’s 100-meter dash, hitting the line with a time of 10.09. Teammate Kade Thompson was the runner-up with a time of 10.27 and Tarleton State’s David Mvundura posted a third place showing in 10.28.
 
Tarleton State’s Victoria Cameron dominated the field with a conference and meet record in the women’s 100-meter dash, running a top-10 national time in 11.05 with 1.2m/s wind. UTA’s Adeyemi Talabi was second in 11.36 and Tarleton State’s Lauren Roy checked in third in 11.43
 
Kash Powell led a UTA 1-2 punch at the top of the men’s 800-meter podium with a championship winning time of 1:50.49. Alex Kalmar was runner-up in 1:51.03 and GCU’s Germaine Lemaitre was third with a time of 1:51.34.
 
UTA’s Winnie Kipsang added another gold medal to her weekend in the women’s 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:09.79 to take the win. GCU’s Michaela Lewis finished second with a 2:11.33 showing and CBU’s Laura Acuna was third with a time of 2:11.73.
 
GCU’s Cameron Wilmington denied teammate Davicea McCartney’s bid for a title defense in the men’s 400-meter hurdles with an incredibly close 50.40 finish at the line. McCartney was the runner-up with a 50.46 and ACU’s Kenan Reil was third with a time of 52.52.
 
Kali McEuen kept a successful weekend rolling for Utah Valley in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, clocking a winning time of 58.63. UTA’s Zaire Moore was second in 59.21 and Indyia Walton placed third with a time of 1:01.22.
 
Utah Valley’s Gabe Remy doubled up the medal stand in the men’s 200-meter dash, crossing in 20.41 to claim the event win. GCU’s Miguel Rosario was the runner-up with a time of 20.67 and Tarleton State’s David Mvundura was third in 20.69.
 
Victoria Cameron nearly added a women’s 200-meter dash record to her shining meet for Tarleton State, logging a wind-aided 22.51 for the gold medal. Teammate Lauren Roy was second with a time of 23.22, and UTA’s Adeyemi Talabi finished third with a time of 23.56.
 
Utah Valley’s Mohamed Guled doubled up the men’s distance events by also winning the men’s 5000-meter run, rolling to victory in 14:05.86. Tarleton State’s Angel Gomez finished second with a time of 14:45.63 and Utah Valley’s Wyatt Mortenson checked in third in 14:46.08.
 
Ava Dyck captured the first CBU women’s 5000-meter run crown at the WAC Championships in a victorious 16:53.31. UTA’s Matro Jepkemboi was the runner-up with a time of 16:54.18 and Utah Valley’s Anna Martin placed third in 16:57.47.
 
Utah Valley capped its meet victory by taking the men’s 4x400m relay, as Isaiah Archer, Cameron Franklin, Max Clemons and Bode Jensen raced to a season best time of 3:09.20. GCU’s Davicea McCartney, Cameron Wilmington, Ben Stratman and Joshua Gittens were second with a time of 3:11.92 and Southern Utah’s Noah Bringhurst, Jaedyn Carpenter, Nick Pembroke and Kody Smith finished third with a time of 3:13.63.

GCU captured the final event if the weekend in the women’s 4x400m relay, with Aaliyah Rifort-Delem, Alyssa Blockburger, Michaela Lewis and Taliyah Booker clocking a winning time of 3:40.41. Utah Valley’s Whitney Fisher, Kali McEuen, Gabriele Dabb and Ella Hopper secured the silver in 3:44.71 and UTA’s Alexis Cain, Zaire Moore, Winnie Kipsang and Adeyemi Talabi finished third with a time of 3:44.95.
