ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) has named Ryan Cigich the Conference’s new coordinator of soccer officials.
Along with the WAC, Cigich is the soccer officiating coordinator for the Big 12 and a soccer regional assignor for the NCAA, where he is responsible for selecting and assigning soccer officials to NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III postseason games.
Cigich also serves as the head of officials for the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL), a national referee administrator for US Youth Soccer and a US Soccer National Referee Executive Committee member.
Prior to becoming an NCAA soccer regional assignor, Cigich was the NCAA national coordinator of soccer officiating and a member of the NCAA Soccer Playing Rules Committee from 2012-2023. In his role with the NCAA, Cigich coordinated the officials’ assignments in the NCAA soccer championships for all divisions, evaluated the performance of match officials and worked to identify and recruit NCAA soccer officials.
Cigich has a vast amount of experience on the pitch as a soccer referee, with over 1,800 games officiated at the youth, amateur and professional levels and over 700 games at the NCAA level (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, CUSA, MVC, SEC, SoCon, and WAC).
Cigich has been a professional indoor soccer referee for the last 28 years for leagues such as the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and the MASL. He also was a US Soccer referee for 10 years (1998-2007), Major League Soccer referee for five years (1999-2003) and a referee for the Division 2-3 Domestic Professional Leagues for 16 years (1992-2008).
