ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s
Daniel Armstrong and Tarleton State’s
Jacob Thomas have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Jan. 18.
Armstrong, a junior, earned first place at the Arkansas Invitational 800-meter race, out-running 29 other competitors in the event with a WAC-season-best time 1:49.72. Armstrong’s time was within two seconds of the nation’s fastest 800-meter this season, as he ranks 13
th in the country.
Thomas, a senior, set a Tarleton State pole vault record of 5.03 meters at Texas Tech’s Corky Classic, earning himself the runner-up spot in the meet. Thomas’ mark currently ranks best in the conference this season.
