No. 1 California Baptist and No. 2 Abilene Christian To Meet in WAC Women’s Championship

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The top seeds of No. 1 California Baptist and No. 2 Abilene Christian cruised their way to the 2026 Air Force Reserve WAC Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship game after taking command in their semifinal games and winning by double-digits.
 
The WAC regular season champions, No. 1 California Baptist, defeated No. 5 Tarleton State 77-60 and No. 2 Abilene Christian ended No. 6 UT Arlington’s tournament run with a 70-50 victory. The Lancers and the Wildcats will play for a WAC Tournament championship and an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m. PT on ESPNU.

No. 1 California Baptist won its fourth game against No. 5 Tarleton State this season in dominant fashion as the Lancers had control from the start, opening the game with five 3-pointers within the first five minutes. The Lancers finished the afternoon with a 35.5 percentage from beyond the arc, making 11 shots from deep on 35 attempts.
 
Filipa Barros led California Baptist from 3-point range, making five of her 10 attempts from deep, finishing with a total of 21 points in the game. Barros also notched 13 rebounds for her 15th double-double on the year. Shawnee Nordstrom had a strong day on the floor for CBU, shooting 7-of-11 for 18 points, her second-highest scoring total this season.
 
Gia Adams notched her seventh 20-point outing for Tarleton State this year with a game-high 22 points against the Lancers. Freshman Elodie Lutbert wraps up her first collegiate season with a second-consecutive 15-point game and a team-high seven rebounds.
 
No. 2 Abilene Christian 70, No. 6 UT Arlington 50 | Box Score
 
No. 2 Abilene Christian completed the four-game season sweep over No. 6 UT Arlington in 2025-26 with a 20-point victory over the Lady Mavs. This win marked the Wildcats’ first program victory in the WAC tournament.
 
Payton Hull backed up her WAC Player of the Year honor with a game-high 21 points in the contest, including an 8-of-10 shooting performance from the charity line. Aimee Flippen and Jazmyn Stone both tied their scoring season-highs with 10 points each in the game. Seven different Wildcats recorded at least five points this afternoon.
 
UT Arlington also shared the ball on the court as seven different Lady Mavs scored at least five points as well. Kira Reynolds and Kali Haizlip led the team with eight points apiece.
