California Baptist Wins the 2026 Air Force Reserve WAC Women’s Basketball Tournament

LAS VEGAS, Nevada –No. 1 California Baptist defeated No. 2 Abilene Christian 74-58 in the tournament championship game to secure the 2026 Air Force Reserve WAC Women’s Basketball Tournament title, its third WAC tournament championship in the last six seasons. With the win, the Lancers lock an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
California Baptist’s redshirt junior guard Filipa Barros was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after a near triple-double performance in the championship game with eight points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Barros also recorded a team-high 21 points and 13 rebounds against No. 5 Tarleton State in the semifinals.
 
Four Lancers reached double-digit scoring in the championship game, led by WAC Freshman of the Year Lauren Olsen who dropped 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor. Joining Barros on the WAC All-Tournament Team from California Baptist was Emma Johansson who scored 15 points and Shawnee Nordstrom who tallied 12 points.
 
Making the All-Tournament Team from Abilene Christian was Erin Woodson and Payton Hull. Woodson led the Wildcats in the championship game with 16 points and Hull continued her double-figure scoring with 10 points on the afternoon. Emma Troxell notched a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
 
The Lancers now await Selection Sunday to see who they will take on in the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament. The women’s show will air at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 15 on ESPN.
