ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s JayBrion Jones and Sir Jonathan Sims have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition period between April 22 and 29.
Jones, a freshman from Odessa, won the 100-meter dash at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, with a time of 10.10. That’s the best time in the WAC and the 14th fastest time in the NCAA this season.
Sims, a senior from Richmond, Virginia placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 15.92m (52’2.75”), also at the Michael Johnson Invitational. That is the top jump in the WAC this season and 21st best in the country. Sims was
also second in the long jump at the same meet going 7.73m (25’4.5”) which is best in the WAC this year and 31st in the NCAA.
