2026 WAC Baseball Weekly Release - Week 13

TARLETON STATE CLINCHES SHARE OF WAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE
Following Sacramento State’s victory over California Baptist on Sunday, Tarleton State has clinched at least a share of the 2026 WAC regular season title. The Texans are riding on an eight-game conference winning streak and with one win this weekend against Sacramento State, the Texans can clinch the outright regular season championship along with securing the No. 1 seed in the WAC tournament.
 
THE FIELD IS SET FOR THE POSTSEASON
The field for the 2026 University Credit Union WAC Baseball Tournament has been set following the conclusion of last weekend’s games. Tarleton State, California Baptist, Abilene Christian, Sacramento State, Utah Tech and UT Arlington will head to Mesa, Arizona next week to compete for a WAC tournament championship.
 
HARP CLINCHES UTA’S TOURNAMENT SPOT WITH WALK-OFF HOMER
UT Arlington’s Hank Harp capped off the Mavericks’ Senior Day with a walk-off three-run home run in the 11th inning for the 8-5 extra-inning win over Utah Tech. The victory secured the series win for the Mavericks and clinched UTA a spot in the WAC tournament.
 
CBU TAKES DOWN RANKED UCSB
California Baptist earned its 40th win of the season with an 8-3 victory over No. 25 UC Santa Barbara on Monday evening. Bryan Peck tossed six shutout innings for CBU, allowing just one hit while picking up three strikeouts to improve his season record to 7-1. Connor Ross delivered at the plate for the Lancers, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and four RBIs.
 
WAC STAT LEADERS - CONFERENCE GAMES
Tarleton State’s Jake Tatom leads the league in batting average (.531) and OPS (1.427) in conference play as he also is tied for the most hits (26) out of all players who have played at most 15 WAC games. Utah Tech’s Finnegan Stewart has been the most productive with runners in scoring position as he leads the league with 22 RBIs. Utah Valley’s Hunter Katschke is only one of three players with seven or more home runs in conference play, as he holds the WAC lead with nine. On the mound, UT Arlington’s Merek Sears has been lights out, holding an 0.87 ERA through 20.2 innings pitched. Lancer ace Michael Malki is the only pitcher to have more than three wins in WAC play (6) and is also the only pitcher to have more than 30 strikeouts (54).
