ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Chris Ramirez and Abilene Christian’s Baron Mannis have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, May 3.
 
Ramirez, a sophomore infielder, led a red-hot Lancer offense last week with 14 hits in four games for a weekly batting average of .700. Ramirez posted three games with multiple extra-base hits, highlighted by a 6-for-6 day at the plate against Utah Valley on Saturday where he recorded a home run, two doubles, three RBIs and scored four times. On Friday, Ramirez went 4-for-6 versus UVU with two home runs, a double, four RBIs and three runs scored. Ramirez was a triple shy of the cycle in both games. Ramirez would finish the week with three home runs, five doubles, nine RBIs and nine runs scored. Ramirez tops the WAC batting average charts with a season average of .394, the 17^th best average in the nation.
 
Mannis, a freshman left-handed pitcher, collected a pair of saves in three appearances for Abilene Christian last week and allowed no runs and just three hits across six innings of work. Mannis totaled six strikeouts on the week with three against Dallas Baptist on Tuesday and three against Sacramento State on Friday. Mannis then preserved ACU’s 13-11 victory in the rubber match versus the Hornets in a three-up, three-down 10^th inning on Sunday.
