ARLINGTON, Texas – UNLV’s
Daniel Nicusan and California Baptist’s
Mario Del Valle have been named the
University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, for the competition week ending on Monday, Oct. 7.
Nicusan, a graduate student, swam to a first-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 52.22, defeating the defending champion, Arizona State, and laying down the current fastest 100 Breaststroke time in the country. Nicusan also placed second in the 200 IM (1:46.94), recording the third fastest time in the nation.
Del Valle, the defending champion sophomore, continues his diving success by blowing past the NCAA Zone Qualifying marks last weekend at Pepperdine, cementing his trip to the NCAA postseason on opening weekend. Del Valle claimed first place in the 3-meter dive with a score of 346.50 and finished runner-up in the 1-meter dive with a score of 340.15. Both of Del Valle’s scores were top ten in the nation.
