Day Three Results
HOUSTON, Texas – UNLV overtook California Baptist in the men’s team standings and Northern Arizona grew its lead in the women’s standings as the WAC heads into the final day of the 2025 Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Rebels hold a four-point lead over the Lancers as the Lumberjacks expand their lead over New Mexico State by over 100 points.
UNLV’s
Daniel Nicusan dethroned the two-time defending champion and Rebel teammate
Danny Beji in the men’s 100 breaststroke, setting a new all-time WAC record with a mark of 51.58.
California Baptist broke its second all-time WAC record of the week after winning the men’s 400 medley relay with a record time of 3:06.35, breaking UNLV’s championship record by over a second.
Northern Arizona’s
Elsa Musselman claimed the first gold of the night, winning the women’s 100 butterfly with a time of 53.45. CBU’s
Sofia Maksimova and GCU’s
Paula Martinez finished right on Musselman’s tail clocking in at 53.63 and 53.73, respectively.
Idaho’s
Ginger Kiefer took control of the women’s 400 IM, winning by over five seconds with a time of 4:13.43. Air Force won its first gold of the championship as
Camden Swigart touched the pad first in the men’s side of the event at 3:46.01, his second title in the 400 IM in the last three years.
Grand Canyon swept the women’s 100 breaststroke with
Beth Young taking the top spot and clocking in at 1:00.76.
Raphaela Nakashima captured the silver with defending champion
Maria Brunlehner claiming the bronze. The Lopes also went back-to-back in the 400 medley relay, winning with a time of 3:38.50.
California Baptist’s
Remi Fabiani followed his record-breaking 50 freestyle gold medal with his second gold of the week in the 100 backstroke, checking in with a time of 45.40. Fabiani placed ahead of defending champion
Alex Volkov of GCU who finished runner-up at 45.98.
Audrey Thordarson-Wehner of CBU was crowned champion of the women’s platform diving finals, winning with a score of 281.05, 40 points more than the second-place finisher.
The final day of action in the 2025 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships begin tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT with the prelims which will air on WAC International, and two champions will be crowned starting at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
