WAC Swimming and Diving Postseason Awards Announced

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Tuesday its Women’s and Men’s Swimming and Diving Postseason Awards sponsored by Jersey Mike’s and University Credit Union, as voted on by the league’s nine women’s and six men’s head coaches. 
 
Idaho’s Ginger Kiefer was named WAC Women’s Swimmer of the Year and Northern Arizona’s Victoria Knapp earned WAC Women’s Diver of the Year, while Grand Canyon’s Beth Young claimed WAC Women’s Freshman of the Year. New Mexico State’s Rick Pratt and Northern Arizona’s Nikki Kelsey go back-to-back years in earning the WAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Coaches of the Year, respectively.
 
On the men’s side, California Baptist claimed four of the five WAC postseason awards including Remi Fabiani as the WAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year, Mario Del Valle as the WAC Men’s Diver of the Year, and Jim Bossert as the WAC Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year. CBU’s Miranda King split the WAC Men’s Diving Coach of the Year honors with UNLV’s Anne Schwemmer. Air Force’s Tanner Wilson was named WAC Men’s Freshman of the Year.
 
Kiefer, a sophomore, earned the WAC Women’s Swimmer of the Year honor after winning the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 backstroke all in NCAA B qualifying standards at the 2025 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Kiefer won the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.35, over two seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher. Kiefer dominated in the 400 IM, winning the event by over five seconds, clocking in at 4:13.43. Her third gold of the championship came in the 200 backstroke where she won by over three seconds, reaching the wall at 1:55.07. Kiefer was also the leadoff swimmer in Idaho’s 800 freestyle relay where the Vandals claimed the bronze. Kiefer’s 60 points are the most collected individually at the conference championships.
 
Knapp, a fifth-year student, was named WAC Women’s Diver of the Year after taking the top spot in the WAC’s 3-meter and 1-meter diving championships. Knapp won the 3-meter dive with a score of 305.05 and won the 1-meter dive for the fifth straight year with a score of 280.60.
 
Young claimed WAC Women’s Freshman of the Year after scoring 36 individual points, the most in the freshman class, at the WAC championships. Young won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.76 and finished third in the 200 breaststroke, checking in at 2:14.75.
 
Pratt earned WAC Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year after leading New Mexico State to a second-place finish at the 2025 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Aggies won a total of five gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
 
Kelsey was named the WAC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year once again as she led the ‘Jacks to podium sweeps in the 3-meter and 1-meter dives. NAU also occupied half of the field in the platform diving A-Final.
 
Fabiani, a senior, claimed WAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year honors after tying for the most individual points (60), winning three individual events and two relays, and breaking two all-time WAC records. Fabiani broke the WAC’s all-time 50 freestyle record with a time of 18.86, the only sub-19 second time ever recorded in the WAC championship. He also broke the all-time 100 freestyle record with a time of 41.83, the only sub-42 second time recorded in the event in WAC championship history. Fabiani also won the 100 backstroke (45.40) and was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:16.77) and 400 medley relay (3:06.35).
 
Del Valle, a sophomore, adds another WAC Men’s Diver of the Year honor to his accolades after winning the WAC 1-meter and platform diving events. Del Valle won his second straight 1-meter dive with a score of 405.90 and claimed the gold in the platform diving event in dramatic fashion and won the event on his final diving attempt, totaling a score of 409.05. Del Valle also finished third in the 3-meter dive with a score of 371.75.
 
Wilson earned WAC Men’s Freshman of the Year after scoring in all three of his individual events including two fifth-place finishes and achieving NCAA B Cuts in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Wilson record times of 53.12 in the 100 breaststroke and 1:56.11 in the 200 breaststroke.
 
Bossert was named WAC Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year after leading California Baptist to second-place finish at the 2025 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Bossert’s team broke three all-time WAC records and won a total of eight golds, four silvers, and two bronzes.
 
King and Schwemmer split the WAC Men’s Diving Coach of the Year honors as CBU and UNLV took the gold in all three diving events and occupied four of the top-five individual diving points. King and her four CBU divers claimed seven top-five finishes and 171 points while Schwemmer and her two UNLV divers totaled four top-five finishes and 91 points.
