Day Two Results
HOUSTON, Texas – Northern Arizona and California Baptist lead the way in the team standings following day two of the 2025 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. New Mexico State and California Baptist trail the Lumberjacks on the women’s side, while UNLV and Air Force follow the Lancers in the men’s standings.
California Baptist’s
Remi Fabiani broke the all-time WAC 50 freestyle record with a time of 18.86, the only sub-19 second time ever recorded in the WAC championship. Fabiani broke his own WAC championship record of 19.10 seconds that he set back in 2023.
UNLV’s
Alex Vazquez additionally broke the all-time WAC men’s 3-meter dive record with a score of 450.75. Vazquez broke CBU’s Mario Del Valle’s record of 418.55 also set in 2023.
Northern Arizona’s
Victoria Knapp completed the sweep of both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives by winning the 1-meter dive for the fifth straight year with a score of 280.60. NAU swept the top three spots as
Grace Wesche and
Catalina Devia took the remaining steps of the podium.
New Mexico State’s
Naomi Slee won the women’s 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.95.
Kylie Ney of NAU finished runner-up and Slee’s NMSU teammate
Katie Rink took third.
CBU’s
Mark Kovacsics dominated the men’s 500 freestyle, winning over five seconds ahead of second place with a time of 4:16.95.
Sofia Maksimova completed the CBU sweep in the 50 freestyle finals by winning the women’s event with a time of 22.19.
Idaho’s
Ginger Kiefer took the gold in the 200 IM by over two seconds, clocking in at 1:58.35. Grand Canyon rounded out the podium as
Fruzsina Macsok and
Maria Brunlehner finished second and third, respectively.
Swimming prelims begin tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT and will air on WAC International and the finals for Friday will start at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
