ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Mark Kovacsics and Gael Jimenez have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Jan. 19.
 
Kovacsics, a junior, won all three individual races he entered in California Baptist’s men’s dual meet victory at Grand Canyon. His time of 9:16.67 in the 1,000 freestyle set a new GCU pool record by over seven seconds. It would also rank as the second fastest 1,000 freestyle in the WAC, second only to Kovacsics’ time earlier this season. Kovacsics also won 500 freestyle with a time of 4:29.46 and the 400 individual medley at 3:55.93.
 
Jimenez, a junior, claimed his second WAC Diver of the Week honor of the year after sweeping both diving events. Jimenez won the 1-meter dive with a score of 364.80 and the 3-meter dive with 359.40 points.
