2025 WAC Men's Soccer Release - Week 9

UTAH TECH TAKES OVER FIRST PLACE IN CONFERENCE STANDINGS

Utah Tech secured the top spot in the WAC men’s soccer conference standings with a 2-0-0 home weekend, remaining the only side unbeaten in league play with seven points after three matches. Grand Canyon and Utah Valley were both tied for second with 2-1 marks and six points, and California Baptist and San Diego State checked in with matching 1-1-1 records and four points.

UTAH TECH’S ROGERS ENJOYS SOLID OFFENSIVE WEEKEND
Utah Tech sophomore forward Taylor Rogers was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week and to the TopDrawerSoccer Men’s Team of the Week after leading the conference in scoring last weekend. Rogers registered a pair of one-goal, one-assist performances for the Trailblazers, scoring the match-winner on Oct. 9 in a 3-1 win versus San José State and adding an insurance goal and assist in a 4-0 win over Air Force on Oct. 12.

CBU SECURES ITS FIRST CONFERENCE CLEAN SHEET OF THE SEASON AGAINST HIGH-POWERED GCU
California Baptist bounced back from an opening conference defeat by securing a 1-1 home draw against UNLV on Oct. 9 before shutting out Grand Canyon 1-0 on Oct. 12. The Lopes have only dropped three matches across all competitions thus far in 2025, with each match ending in matching 1-0 defeats.

UVU SCORES TWO TWICE IN HOME WINS
Utah Valley climbed up the conference standings with matching 2-1 wins last weekend, downing Air Force on Oct. 9 before besting San José State on Oct. 11. Jose Luis Martin Montealegre finished the week with a goal and two assists (four points) to power the Wolverine attack.

THE WAC IN THE NCAA RPI RANKINGS
Grand Canyon remained in the top spot in the WAC in the latest NCAA RPI report released on Oct. 14, checking in 44th after compiling a 2-2-1 record thus far against the national top 100. California Baptist was next at 46th (3-2-0 vs. the top 100), with Utah Valley just inside of the top 50 ranked 49th with a 2-1-1 top 100 record.
