ARLINGTON, Texas – Southern Utah’s
Logan Peel and California Baptist’s
Valentin Soca have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Peel, a junior, claimed his third top-10 finish of the season to pace Southern Utah at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Oct. 18 in Sunnyvale, California. Peel clocked an 8K time of 23:55.7 to place seventh in the men’s 8K invitational race, leading the Thunderbirds to a runner-up showing as a team.
Soca, a junior, made his season debut for CBU at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational on Oct. 17 in Madison, Wisconsin. Running against a plethora of other national top-25 teams, Soca placed seventh in the men’s 8K championship race with a time of 23:30.1 to guide the Lancers to 11th place out of 32 teams in the final standings.
