2025 WAC Men's Soccer Release - Week 11

QUALIFICATION FOR THE WAC TOURNAMENT HAS BEGUN
With one week remaining in conference play, the first two teams officially punched tickets into the 2025 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament last week. Utah Tech joined the tournament field thanks to a 2-1 win at No. 25 California Baptist on Oct. 26. San Diego State also earned a return tournament trip following a 1-0 victory at Utah Valley on Oct. 27.

FOUR TEAMS REMAIN IN PLAY FOR THE TOP SEED
Four WAC teams remain in contention for both a conference regular-season title and the top seed in the upcoming WAC Tournament entering the final week of league play. San Diego State and Utah Tech, both tied for first place with 11 points at 3-1-2, remain the frontrunners, followed by tournament host California Baptist with 10 points at 3-2-1. Grand Canyon also has a chance to climb to the top of the standings with a win and favorable results elsewhere at nine points (2-1-3 record) with one match to play.

SJSU’S INIGUEZ PEAKING AT THE PERFECT TIME
Reigning WAC Offensive Player of the Year Angel Iniguez from San José State has found his form in a massive way for the Spartans late in the conference schedule. Iniguez picked up his first WAC Player of the Week honor of 2025 and landed on the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week after scoring three goals in an unbeaten weekend for San José State. Iniguez has scored five goals and added two assists over six conference starts this season.

SDSU BLANKS UTAH VALLEY FOR FIRST TIME THIS SEASON
San Diego State became the first team across all competitions to shut out Utah Valley during 2025 in a 1-0 victory on Oct. 27. Utah Valley, the WAC leader with 29 team goals and 87 points, was held to five shots on goal by San Diego State.

THE WAC IN THE NCAA RPI RANKINGS
California Baptist remained in the top spot in the WAC in the latest NCAA RPI report released on Oct. 28, checking in 46th after compiling a 4-2-1 record thus far against the national top 100. San José State (56th, 1-2-3 top 100 record) Grand Canyon (65th, 3-3-2 top 100 record) and Utah Valley (70th, 2-3-1 top 100 record) were also included among the top 75 teams nationally in the latest rankings.
