ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Alice Klinteby and Tarleton State’s Aya Ishii and Emma Persson have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tennis Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Feb. 23.
 
Klinteby, a senior, collected her second WAC Singles Player of the Week award of the season after winning both of her matches in straight sets last week on No. 4 Singles against North Texas and Sam Houston. Klinteby defeated Pia Petelinsek of North Texas 6-3, 7-5 then assisted the Wildcats to victory over the Bearkats by taking down Sam Houston’s Sara Sadadinovic 6-3, 6-4.
 
Ishii, a freshman, and Persson, a senior, won their first match as a doubles duo on Sunday against Northwestern State’s Honoka Umeda/Sofi Garcia 6-4 on No. 1 Doubles. The pair helped the Texans clinch the doubles point against the Lady Demons and obtain Tarleton State’s first road win of 2026. Ishii picked up her seventh doubles win of the season while Persson won her fourth match in doubles.
