ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Alice Klinteby and Utah Tech’s Ana Gutierrez Sampere and Mariana Zurita Berdecio have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tennis Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Feb. 2.
 
Klinteby, a senior, helped Abilene Christian to a pair of victories last week against UTSA and Stephen F. Austin with two straight set wins in the No. 4 singles court. Klinteby defeated UTSA’s Giuliana Giardina 6-4, 6-1 and Stephen F. Austin’s Antonella Taco 6-0, 6-2. Her victory against Taco clinched ACU’s match victory against the Lumberjacks.
 
Gutierrez Sampere and Zurita Berdecio, juniors, went 1-0, winning their only finished set in doubles play over three matches last weekend at Las Vegas. The pair defeated Weber State's Jessica Hill and Aleks Bozinovska 7-6 (7-1) at No. 1 doubles, earning the doubles point for Utah Tech in a 7-0 win over the in-state rival.
