ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s David Liechty has been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Golfer of the Week for the competition week ending on Wednesday, Feb. 4.  
 
Liechty, a freshman, became the first Trailblazer in the program's D-I era to claim medalist honors at an in-season team tournament, doing so at the 2026 spring season-opening CSUN Bill Cullum Invitational on Tuesday at The Saticoy Club in Somis, California. Liechty carded rounds of 76-69-71 to finish with a 54-hole total of even par 216, then defeated Cal Poly's Rafael Bobo-Lloret with a par on the first playoff hole to win the event's individual title. Liechty totaled nine birdies in the tournament.
